Sunglass Hut review: Cost, brands, repairs and more

Sunglass Hut retail store

What to expect at Sunglass Hut

If you've got your eye on a stylish new pair of sunglasses, check out Sunglass Hut, a top global retailer that sells men's and women's sunglasses online and in stores. They carry a wide variety of designer shades, from Armani Exchange and Prada to Ray-Ban and Valentino.

Sunglass Hut started in 1971 as a kiosk selling sunglasses in a Miami mall. It’s expanded quite a bit since its humble beginnings, and now has over 3,000 shopfronts around the world.

Which brands does Sunglass Hut sell?

Sunglass Hut sells authentic sunglasses from more than 35 clothing and eyewear designers.

Among the brands offered by Sunglass Hut, you can find sunglasses with or without a prescription or polarized lenses. They come in a wide range of colors, shapes and styles, including aviator, cat-eye, square, round and oversized.

Here are some of Sunglass Hut’s most popular brands:

Having a huge selection is one of Sunglass Hut’s biggest strong suits, and most shoppers should be able to find a pair that suits their budget, needs and style.

Does Sunglass Hut offer coupons or discounts?

Sunglass Hut offers coupons, discounts, sales and other ways to save money on sunglasses.

For example, I found a coupon code at the top of their website for $60 off a second pair of sunglasses, so you may be able to save by buying a spare pair of sunglasses.

Sunglass Hut also holds semi-annual sales where you can get up to 50% off select pairs of sunglasses. If you miss a big sale, you may still be able to find discounted styles throughout the year.

To find Sunglass Hut coupons, discount codes and promotions, check their website — especially the special offers page. You'll find information about current offers; major annual sales; and special discounts for first responders, students, teachers, government workers, active military and veterans.

How do I find a Sunglass Hut near me?

Want to try on sunglasses in person before you buy? Sunglass Hut has brick-and-mortar stores around the world, from Los Angeles to New York and Sydney to Toronto. Use the Sunglass Hut store locator to find a store near you.

What is Sunglass Hut's return policy?

Did you buy a pair of sunglasses that broke or don't look as good as you hoped? Here's what you need to know about the Sunglass Hut return and replacement policies:

  • Sunglass Hut returns – You can return sunglasses purchased online for free within 30 days by using UPS. You'll need to log into your account on the Sunglass Hut website, go to the order status page and enter your order number and email. Follow the steps for making a return and you'll receive a return label and instructions for packing and shipping it back. If you bought your sunglasses in a store, you'll need to contact that store for return options.

  • Sunglass Hut replacement – You can also exchange sunglasses that break or get damaged within a year of the original purchase. You must show proof of purchase and pick a replacement pair of equal or lesser value.

Keep in mind that replacement coverage does not apply if you lose your sunglasses or if they get stolen. In that case, you'll be on the hook for the cost of a new pair.

Does Sunglass Hut do repairs?

Sunglass Hut does not offer repairs in-store, but they will do cleaning and adjustments in the store on sunglasses purchased there. They also offer free exchanges if your sunglasses break or get damaged within a year of purchase.

Does Sunglass Hut price match?

Sunglass Hut does not advertise price matching on its U.S. website, though it does explicitly offer a price matching policy in some other countries. For example, the Sunglass Hut website for New Zealand offers a price match in stores if you find the exact same brand and style locally within 30 days of your purchase.

This price match guarantee states that Sunglass Hut New Zealand will refund you the difference with proof of purchase and proof of the better price. The offer excludes prices found online, in closeout sales or at Sunglass Hut outlet stores.

I called U.S. customer care to ask about price matching and the agent said I should call back if I find a lower price on a specific pair of sunglasses I’ve bought from Sunglass Hut.

Final thoughts on Sunglass Hut

Sunglass Hut is a good place to buy quality designer sunglasses, especially considering its:

  • Numerous years in business

  • Wide selection of brands and styles

  • Online and in-store shopping options

  • Frequent sales

  • Free returns

  • Generous replacement policy for broken or damaged sunglasses

However, if you want expert advice and frame fitting before your next sunglasses purchase, or if you need prescription sunglasses, you may want to consider working with a licensed optician.
