About Dr. Stokkermans

Dr. Thomas J. Stokkermans is an Associate Professor at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, as well as an adjunct faculty member at The Ohio State University, Western University of the Health Sciences, Indiana University, Salus University and the New England College of Optometry. He provides clinical training to ophthalmology residents and optometry externs.

He is the Director of the Optometry Division at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and the Co-Director of the Dry Eye Center of Excellence. He has participated in over 30 clinical trials in ocular disease and contact lens care as well as published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in the optometric and molecular biology literature.

Dr. Stokkermans is the incoming Chair of the Academic Medical Center Optometrists Special Interest Group and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). He is Chief Editor of Advanced Optometric Medical Care at StatPearls, the largest medical continuing education resource in the world. Dr. Stokkermans serves on the Advisory Board of The Optical Foundation, an organization that supports optometry students in Ghana. He is also one of the eye doctors for the Cleveland Browns NFL team.
