Dr. Rahul Bhola, MD, MBA, FAAP, is an internationally recognized pediatric ophthalmologist with more than two decades of experience in the diagnosis and management of complex pediatric eye disorders. He serves as Medical Director and Division Chief of Ophthalmology at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and a Fellowship Co-Director at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
As an astute physician leader, he is at the forefront of healthcare innovation and has championed many quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives while integrating cutting-edge medical advancement in his clinical practice. Dr. Bhola has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in high-impact ophthalmology journals, including JAMA Ophthalmology and Ophthalmology. He also serves as the Editor and Co-Founder of Ophthalmology Business Minute, a nationally circulated publication highlighting business strategy, leadership and innovation in eye care.
His research focuses on myopia, amblyopia, strabismus, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and inherited retinal diseases (IRDs), with a growing emphasis on artificial intelligence–driven approaches to pediatric ophthalmology.
