Five Sunglasses Trends Dua Lipa Has Rocked and Where To Find Them
Songstress Dua Lipa hails from London, United Kingdom, a city as fast-paced and fashion-forward as her presence in the limelight. Before signing with Warner Bros. Records UK in 2014, Lipa worked as a model. The two career paths have now merged to provide an influence on the worlds of both music and fashion.
The popstar has a distinctive, subtly-raspy voice that gives her music more of an edge than the typical “hot music” heard on the radio. It’s a characteristic that helps her stand out and, arguably, helps keep her ahead of the trends in popular culture.
She is also known for her unconventional yet chic style. Oversized blazers and head-to-toe neon outfits are some of her signature looks — which she often accessorizes with matching bright sunnies.
In fact, her selection of sunglasses has made a mark on fashion in both consumer and artistic senses. She has rocked skinny microshade sunglasses along with other hot eyewear trends.
Recently, she has been seen showing off yellow-tinted rectangular shades as a look of the future with a hint of 90s nostalgia. It’s a vibe that totally makes sense, given the title of her Grammy award winning album “Future Nostalgia,” which features the hits “Levitating,” “Break My Heart” and “Don’t Start Now.”
Where to find Dua Lipa’s sunglasses
You can see Dua Lipa sporting shades at Hollywood events, photoshoots and all over social media. Depending on your lifestyle and preferences, you may favor certain styles over others. As for Dua, she has proven that she can rock them all.
Though she’s been known to don designers like Poppy Lissiman and Lexxola on Instagram, there are more affordable options for those who want the look of a designer without the cost. You just have to know what to look for.
Here are five shady trends Dua Lipa has rocked and where you can find them:
1. Yellow-tinted frames
Dua Lipa is a fan of yellow-framed sunglasses of all shapes and sizes. Vogue hints that rectangular shades, in particular, are what’s “in” for 2021, along with the revival of many other popular ‘90s trends. Colorful rectangular shades are available at retailers such as Urban Outfitters, SHEIN and Amazon.
Designer brands that feature similar rectangular yellow shades include Le Specs, Akila Verve, Retrosuperfuture and Acne Studios.
2. Orange-tinted lenses
Many celebrities, including Kaia Gerber, Kourtney Kardashian and Dua Lipa, have been seen in the ever-popular angular Damien frames by Lexxola. Although Dua seems to be a fan of colorful glasses, she rocks both the orange and black lenses of these particular shades.
Like the yellow-tinted frames, shades with an orange lens tint can be found at merchants such as Amazon, SHEIN, Urban Outfitters and Romwe.
3. Bright and bold sunnies
A little neon never hurt anyone. Whether you want a head-to-toe look or just a touch of color over your eyes, bright and bold sunglasses are a great option. Dua has been seen in neon green shades by designer Poppy Lissiman, sunglasses that are just as bold as she is.
This style is so on-trend now, it’s likely that you will be able to find a pair just like them at your local shopping mall. If you’re willing to splurge a bit, you can find Dua’s green glasses (and some other very Dua-style frames) on the Poppy Lissiman website.
4. Retro chic shades
Designer Karen Wazen is known for retro chic designs, which have earned two thumb’s up by Dua Lipa herself. The star posted a since-deleted photo wearing “The Glamorous” frames on Instagram, a social media move that excited Wazen and Dua’s followers alike.
5. Skinny sunglasses
Microshades, also called Matrix sunglasses, skinny sunglasses or tiny sunglasses, were more of a trend in 2018, thanks to runways during Fashion Week. Some loved them, and some did not care for them at all. Lipa, in her risk-taking fashion ways, was one of those who tried the trend with a pair of skinny white cat-eye sunglasses.
Though they are not as popular as they once were, you can still find skinny sunglasses from designers and brands such as ASOS, Topshop and Le Specs.
Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” for style
The “New Rules” singer seems to live by certain rules for fashion: her own. With such a fresh, eccentric take, it’s no surprise that each pair of sunglasses she flaunts is received well among fans as well as fashion critics.
One can say with confidence that there is still much to see in the future from Lipa’s ever-trendy presence. With so many looks, it’s hard to choose the best one. (Dua must feel the same way.)
Sunglasses: Protective and stylish
Sunglasses are unique to fashion not only for boosting looks, but also for offering special protection for your eyes. When shopping for your next pair, look for some that have 100% UV protection to shield your eyes from harmful UV rays.
Whether you rock a pair like Dua Lipa’s or a style worn by another one of your favorite celebrities, be sure to wear your sunglasses on bright days to get the full benefits of both style and eye protection.
