October Facebook Promotion to Benefit Optometry Giving Sight
San Diego, Calif., October 1, 2012 AllAboutVision.com will donate $5 to Optometry Giving Sight for each new "Like" of the AllAboutVision.com Facebook page in October.
The donation incentive will be promoted to eye care professionals (ECPs), who are the primary target audience for AllAboutVision.com's Facebook page. AllAboutVision.com uses its Facebook page to post notifications of all new articles and major news stories that have been added to the website. By "Liking" AllAboutVision.com on Facebook, ECPs can stay abreast of what their patients may be reading. Because the posts are written to be patient-friendly, ECPs can easily re-post to their own practice Facebook pages.
AllAboutVision.com also offers practitioners a free Eye Health News Feed that posts directly and automatically to practice Facebook pages.
The $5 donation program is timed to coincide with Optometry Giving Sight's World Sight Day Challenge, a month-long campaign designed to raise funds for projects that provide vision care, local training and infrastructure support for people who are blind or vision impaired simply because they lack access to an eye exam and eyeglasses. The campaign is anchored by World Sight Day, an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired. World Sight Day, which falls on October 11 this year, is backed by the World Health Organization and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.
