Agenda for 2011 Includes New Content,
Social Marketing
San Diego, Calif., January 12, 2011 AllAboutVision.com served a record 12,693,194 unique visitors in 2010, measured weekly by Google Analytics a 33% increase in total unique visitors from the previous year, and a 38% increase in organic (non-paid) visitors.
"We saw large page view increases for some of our well-established topics," said Marilyn Haddrill, editor. "For example, views of our articles about astigmatism and conjunctivitis both increased more than 50%. That complemented the increases generated by new content, like our Contact Lens FAQ section, which was viewed almost 400,000 times."
Traffic to the Eye Anatomy page more than doubled, in part from visitors driven by the EyeXam iPhone app from Global Eye Ventures. Early app versions linked to that page, although the app now provides a custom AllAboutVision.com search page.
Looking ahead in 2011, the editorial team and our Advisory Board of eye care professionals will be continually reviewing and updating more than 500 content pages, to ensure the most current and accurate information for visitors. The team is also preparing a new Cosmetic Eye Surgery section, focusing on appearance-enhancing procedures performed on the eyelids and surrounding skin.
"We'll also be implementing tools to help eye care practitioners in their efforts to educate patients," said Ron Walker, publisher. "For example, we are introducing an eye health news feed that can be used to automatically update a practice's Facebook page about breaking news and new articles on AllAboutVision.com."
Launched in 2000, AllAboutVision.com is a one-stop, independent resource providing consumers with hundreds of pages of trustworthy, up-to-date information on vision correction and eye health. The site is a National Silver Sponsor of Optometry Giving Sight, and is certified by the Health on the Net Foundation.
