Site Traffic On Target for 12 Million
Visitors in 2010
San Diego, Calif., October 1, 2010 Heading into the fourth quarter, AllAboutVision.com continues to be on track to serve 12 million unique visitors this year, a 35% increase over 2009.
Where do visitors come from, what do they read, and what are the trends?
Conditions & Diseases, Contact Lenses, LASIK & Vision Surgery and Eyeglasses continue to be the most visited content sections. The top 10 articles were those about spots and floaters, conjunctivitis, eye twitching, colored contact lenses, LASIK cost, cataracts, choosing eyeglasses, astigmatism, ocular migraine and dry eyes. Of those, eye twitching (348%) and astigmatism (66%) significantly outpaced the overall growth rate of the site.
Search engines continue to account for 89% of site visitors, with Google's non-paid results generating almost 74% of all visitors, up from about 69% in 2009. Referrals from Facebook more than quadrupled, although they still make up a relatively small percentage of site visitors; while referrals from Wikipedia declined slightly. The site's total non-paid unique visitors are up 41%.
North America is the origin of 81% of all site visits, down one percentage point from 2009. The United Kingdom is now the #2 country referrer, surpassing Canada, with visits up 62%.
More than 5,000 websites refer traffic to AllAboutVision.com each month, according to Google Analytics, and the site is linked to from more than 300,000 web pages.
