All About Vision Featured on New iPhone App
SAN DIEGO, Calif., May 6, 2010 Consumers who want to learn more about eye anatomy have been linking to All About Vision's information on that topic from EyeXam, a popular new iPhone app that lets users evaluate their vision and performs tests related to color perception, astigmatism, eye alignment and eye dominance.
EyeXam was developed by two optometrists and is a product of Global EyeVentures, a consulting firm founded by Nikki Iravani, O.D. During its first month on the iTunes store, EyeXam was downloaded more than 100,000 times and was the second most popular application in the "medical" category, according to Dr. Iravani.
"We developed EyeXam to raise awareness about vision and eye health among the many iPhone and iPod Touch users," says Dr. Iravani. "The iTunes Store is an amazing platform for quickly impacting large numbers of 'connected' consumers."
EyeXam helps users to find an eye doctor by linking to a locator provided by Vision Source, a network of private practice optometrists. The app also links to product information from several sponsors.
Thousands of users are linking from EyeXam to All About Vision each week, one factor driving 35% year-to-date visitor growth for All About Vision, compared with the same period in 2009. The site is expected to serve 12 million unique visitors in 2010.
All About Vision is a one-stop, independent resource providing consumers with hundreds of pages of trustworthy, up-to-date information on vision correction and eye health.
