Optometry Giving Sight, All About Vision Partner to Educate Patients, Change Lives

San Diego, Calif., July 29, 2009 — Optometry Giving Sight and All About Vision have joined forces to promote consumer education about eye health and vision correction options, while raising money to alleviate functional blindness and fund sustainable eye care programs in developing nations. Optometry Giving Sight is a global organization dedicated to the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error.

As part of its outreach to eye care practices, Optometry Giving Sight is creating awareness of the opportunity for practices to link their websites to All About Vision, thereby referring patients to 500 pages of comprehensive, doctor-reviewed educational information covering all eye care topics.

"Educating patients about the value of regular eye care is an essential part of creating a loyal patient base," says Burt Dubow, OD, FAAO, a private practitioner and All About Vision Editorial Advisory Board member. "Visiting All About Vision also helps my patients learn about the many life-enhancing vision correction options available to them."

Each time a practice or optical store links its website's home page to All About Vision using a prescribed set of links or All About Vision's site visitor counter, a $50 donation is made to Optometry Giving Sight. The promotion began earlier this summer and runs through August 31.

According to Dr. Victor J. Connors, Chairman and CEO of Optometry Giving Sight USA, a donation of as little as five dollars can provide an eye exam and glasses in a developing country. "That means, for every practice that takes advantage of All About Vision's valuable Web counter and link, another 10 people can receive the gift of sight," says Dr. Connors.

Launched in 2000, All About Vision is a one-stop, independent resource providing consumers with trustworthy, up-to-date information on vision correction and eye health. The site is expected to serve about nine million visitors this year.
