40 Million Visitors Served;
Site Redesign Debuts
La Jolla, Calif., August 19, 2008 AllAboutVision.com served its 40 millionth visitor last month, a cumulative total reflecting the number of unique visitors since the site's launch in January 2000.
In July, the site served more than 650,000 visitors from 204 countries, although 83 percent of visits are from the United States and Canada, according to Google Analytics. About eight million visitors are expected in 2008.
Eye Problems & Diseases has become the site's most popular content section.
"We've doubled the number of topics in that section over the past two years," said Marilyn Haddrill, editor. "That, combined with increased interest in aging-related vision topics, is really driving traffic."
LASIK & Vision Surgery, Eyeglasses and Contact Lenses are the site's other heavily trafficked content areas.
AllAboutVision.com also debuted a graphic redesign last week, featuring user-adjustable type sizes, printer-friendly pages and recognizing the increased use of larger, higher-resolution monitors a wider page. The new page size allows for fewer, but larger, ads on each page of the site.
AllAboutVision.com is a one-stop, independent resource providing consumers with hundreds of pages of trustworthy, up-to-date information on vision correction and eye health. Content is reviewed by an advisory board of eye care professionals, and the site is accredited by the Health on the Net Foundation.
AllAboutVision.com is published by Access Media Group LLC, a print and electronic communications company specializing in vision care.
