Where Will The Procedure Be Performed?

Cataract surgery typically is performed on an outpatient basis and does not require an overnight stay in a hospital or other care facility.
Your surgeon may have a dedicated surgery center for these procedures or the practice may use a surgical suite at a local hospital. Sterilization regulations are standardized for all cataract operating suites, no matter where they are located.
If you decide to have a laser cataract surgery, you may be moved to two different rooms on the day of surgery, as it is common for the laser portion of the procedure to be conducted in one room and the rest of the procedure performed in a separate surgery room nearby.
