More About UT Southwestern Laser Center for Vision Care

At UT Southwestern every patient is meticulously examined and treated by the surgical team. LASIK surgery is performed using either a VISX STAR S4 or Alcon LADARVision 4000 excimer laser. Combined with a wavefront-guided platform, each of these systems can give patients customized vision correction. During treatment, the refractive surgeons measure the corneal curvature and create a custom profile of each eye. These advanced technologies allow the surgeons to determine the patient's best option for laser vision correction. For patients interested in a bladeless version of LASIK, the center offers the IntraLase, or "All Laser LASIK," technique. UT Southwestern's combination of FDA- approved laser technologies and comprehensive surgeon training and experience has provided numerous patients with excellent results.

The UT Southwestern Laser Center for Vision Care also offers state-of-the-art advances in presbyopia-correcting IOL (intraocular lenses) surgery, including the "no needle, no stitch, no patch" surgical technique. In conjunction with this surgery, the center also offers some of the newest lenses available, including the ReSTOR lens, which corrects for both distance and reading vision. STAAR ICLs (implantable contact lenses) are also available for many refractive candidates who could not safely have LASIK surgery, such as patients with severe myopia or dry eyes.

Although the UT Southwestern surgeons are on the leading edge of new technology in eye care, they are conservative in their approach to vision correction surgery. A comprehensive screening process is used to help create treatment plans that address each patient's unique vision correction needs.
