More About Vision Correction at Coastal Vision Medical Group
At Coastal Vision Medical Group, Drs. Tran and Yomtoob utilize the latest, most sophisticated technology in order to provide the safest treatments with the best possible results. When performing LASIK, Drs. Tran and Yomtoob use the VISX Star S4 excimer laser or the Technolas 217A excimer laser. The VISX laser allows for extremely precise performance and is the only laser that is able to capture all three dimensions of intra-operative eye movements without pupil dilation. The Technolas laser is designed for maximum patient comfort and quality control. In addition, Drs. Tran and Yomtoob use IntraLase in order to perform all-laser LASIK. This system is much safer and more precise than traditional LASIK, as it allows Drs. Tran and Yomtoob to create a corneal flap with a laser rather than using a microkeratome blade.

Drs. Tran and Yomtoob are affiliated with many professional organizations.
During the LASIK procedure, Drs. Tran and Yomtoob use Orbscan wavefront technology to create a map of the cornea's unique features. Next, the IntraLase laser is used to create a flap in the cornea. The flap is peeled back and the excimer laser is used to smooth the cornea and correct visual imperfections. Once the procedure is finished, the flap is placed back over the eye, where it acts as a natural bandage. No stitches are used in the procedure, and the patient is able to leave the same day. Most patients experience improved vision as soon as the following day and are often able to eliminate their use of contact lenses and glasses.
