Each patient's corneal curvature is unique, like a fingerprint. During custom LASIK, a precise map of this "fingerprint" is made using wavefront technology. Next, using a technology known as IntraLase, a computer-guided laser gently separates an outer layer of the cornea from the inner layers. The wavefront map is then used to guide a second laser, which corrects the curvature of each eye. This procedure, known as bladeless LASIK, eliminates the handheld microkeratome, for a completely blade-free LASIK experience.

The surgeons of NVision Laser Eye Centers are associated with many professional organizations.
Wendell P. Wong, MD, is the Medical Director and Chief of Laser Surgery at NVision Laser Eye Centers Torrance and serves as Chief of Eye Surgery at Natural Sight Medical Corp. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has performed more than 40,000 refractive vision correction procedures, including more than 27,000 LASIK surgeries. Dr. Wong is an internationally renowned surgeon who has performed surgery on patients from around the world, including professional athletes, members of royalty and prominent political figures.
Dr. Wong earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois. He completed his internship at the USC/Los Angeles General Hospital Estelle Doheny Eye Institute and a specialty ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Wong helped establish the intraocular lens implant program at Kaiser Permanente and performed the first radial keratotomy (RK) procedure in the South Bay.
Dr. Wong has received numerous honors and awards, including the "Star Surgeon Award" (three years in a row), and he was named "Super Surgeon" by Transpacific magazine. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
Franklin Lusby, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has successfully performed more than 45,000 refractive surgery procedures over the course of an impressive career spanning more than two decades. He has authored numerous articles, which have appeared in some of the most prestigious medical journals. Dr. Lusby has also taught refractive surgery workshops nationwide for the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Lusby completed his undergraduate education at the Columbia Union College and obtained his medical degree at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He served his internship at Malden Hospital, which is affiliated with the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Lusby completed a course in ophthalmology at the renowned Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School. He then returned to the west, where he completed a residency at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Lusby continued his training with a 16-month fellowship in anterior segment surgery at Glendale Eye Medical Center, where he later served as Chief of Ophthalmology. He also traveled to China to adopt the latest available techniques in LASIK eye surgery. Dr. Lusby is affiliated with many professional organizations.
Amarpreet S. Brar, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who performs the most advanced techniques of LASIK and cataract surgery. Throughout his career spanning more than a decade, Dr. Brar has successfully treated more than 4,000 vision correction patients.
Dr. Brar obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, where he also completed his transitional internship. Dr. Brar continued his training with a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Oklahoma Dean McGee Eye Institute. He is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
