George W. Tate, MD, received his MA in Bio-Physics and Neurophysiology at the University of Texas and his Doctorate of Medicine from Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Tate had the unique honor of studying keratomileusis (the procedure that evolved into LASIK) in 1981 with Dr. Jose Ignacio Barraquer, the man credited with inventing the technique. He has served as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Texas Southwestern Medical School and has also served as a clinical instructor at Tulane Ophthalmology Department. Dr. Tate's reputation is such that he is routinely invited to speak at eyecare conferences around the world. He has authored a variety of works related to ophthalmic surgery and was a principal investigator for the Chiron Technolas laser system that is currently used to perform PRK and LASIK under FDA mandated protocol. Dr. Tate is a highly-respected vision correction specialist and has been decorated with the National Defense Ribbon and Army Commendation Medal.

Dr. Tate is affiliated with a number of professional medical societies, some of which include The International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Society for Excellence in Eye Care.
