More About Vision Correction at Suson Eye Specialists

Suson Eye Specialists is a family-owned eye care practice that has been providing vision correction patients with compassionate, quality eye care for nearly 40 years. Founded by Dr. Suson's father in 1972, the practice has earned the respect of residents and the medical community alike. Dr. Suson is proud to work alongside his sister, Dr. Judy Suson-Hoggatt, who is widely recognized as a skilled and warmhearted ophthalmologist.

Dr. Suson specializes in iLASIK, an enhanced variation of the conventional LASIK procedure. iLASIK allows Dr. Suson to provide his patients with a completely blade-free LASIK eye surgery. iLASIK combines state-of-the-art femtosecond laser technology (for creation of the corneal flap) with the precision of the excimer laser for optimal vision correction outcomes. This technique eliminates the need for a microkeratome (surgical blade) and promotes increased safety and a more comfortable LASIK experience.

To perform iLASIK, Dr. Suson first uses advanced diagnostic equipment to obtain a unique map of the patient's refractive errors. Once this is accomplished, he uses numbing eye drops for maximum patient comfort during the procedure. Next, Dr. Suson creates the corneal flap using a femtosecond laser. The flap is a small piece of tissue that is created on the surface of the eye and lifted back to expose the underlying corneal tissue. He then uses the excimer laser to remove small amounts of tissue, thereby reshaping the cornea and reducing vision flaws. Following the excimer laser treatment, which only takes a few minutes, Dr. Suson places the corneal flap into its original position to protect the eye during the healing process. iLASIK can be used to successfully correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Under the meticulous care of Dr. Suson, iLASIK patients are able to achieve better vision and greatly reduce their dependence on corrective eyewear.

What Do Patients Say About Suson Eye Specialists?

"After wearing contacts for more than 20 years, getting LASIK at Suson Eye Specialists was a fantastic experience. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I still remember getting up in the morning and realizing I didn't have to find my glasses in order to see. The doctors at Suson Eye Specialists (all of them) were great to work with through the whole process. The pre- and post-surgery assessments and education they provided were important to me. When I think of Suson Eye Specialists, I think great doctors, great staff, great technology and great results..." —Mike Kratoska

"Just a note of thanks to you and your team for a job well done! It's been nearly six months since my LASIK procedure and it's been a life-changing experience. My only regret is not having it done 15 years earlier. As a motorcycle / boating / snowmobile enthusiast, the results were even better than I had hoped for. Since I found it impossible to wear contact lenses, the freedom I once again enjoy to pick the appropriate eye gear to wear in any situation is simply awesome. My vision is now better than most 20-something friends of my daughter.

As a photographer, I was impressed with the familiar brand names on your equipment as they represent the very best in photo optics. Your staff was well-trained for their positions and I appreciated being treated with courtesy and respect – especially of my time!

I also appreciated the way I was informed during each and every step of the way. Not only what to expect the day of surgery and thereafter, but the way you and your staff described what I would be feeling, and why, during the procedure itself. Very calming! You can be sure that I will recommend LASIK by team Suson whenever I get the chance." —John Jost
