The surgical team at Southwestern Eye Center incorporates advanced surgical techniques and the latest eye care technologies into its practice. Prior to LASIK surgery, Dr. Kamal creates a unique "fingerprint of the eye" using an advanced wavefront-guided mapping system, which maps all of the flaws in a patient's eye. Next, the map is used to calibrate the excimer laser. The surgeon then creates a small flap in the corneal surface using a microkeratome. The flap is lifted and the excimer laser corrects any flaws in the patient's cornea. Last, the flap is returned to its original position, where it acts as a natural bandage.
Dr. Kamal also performs vision correction using premium intraocular lens implants, including Crystalens, AcrySof ReSTOR, ReZoom, Toric and Visian implantable collamer lenses.

Dr. Aasim Kamal is a double fellowship trained refractive surgery specialist and has performed over 25,000 refractive surgeries. He is certified on many Lasers and Keratomes. He then performed three fellowship training programs: one in neuro-ophthalmology and two in refractive surgery. Dr. Kamal has written several published journal articles and is a member of numerous medical organizations.
