More About Vision Correction at Solomon Eye Associates Physicians & Surgeons
The surgical team at Solomon Eye Associates Physicians & Surgeons has outfitted their practice with the most advanced diagnostic equipment and the latest laser platforms for LASIK surgery. The practice is one of only a few in the area to offer all-laser LASIK using femtosecond and excimer lasers.
Wavefront-guided LASIK is available at Solomon Eye Associates Physicians & Surgeons for completely customized treatment. During a wavefront-guided procedure, a detailed map of the eye’s subtle refractive errors is created and used to calibrate the surgical lasers.
During LASIK, the surgeons create a thin flap in the cornea using a surgical blade or a femtosecond laser (for all-laser LASIK). The method used depends on the individual patient’s desires and visual needs. The corneal flap is lifted from the surface of the eye to expose the underlying cornea. The surgeons use an excimer laser to remove corneal tissue, eliminating irregularities like nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Once the desired level of corneal tissue reshaping has been achieved, the surgeons return the corneal flap to its original position, and it heals itself.
LASIK patients of Solomon Eye Associates Physicians & Surgeons typically notice improved vision within one to two days after surgery. One of the goals of LASIK is to reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses, and many patients are able to achieve this.
