Drs. Snyder and Hunter are in private practice in Tucson where they provide patients with excellence in vision correction. Robert W. Snyder, MD, PhD, earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Utah in 1977 and his Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University in 1983. After graduation, Dr. Snyder completed ophthalmology residency training and a fellowship in cornea and external disease at the Medical College of Wisconsin. In 1988, Dr Snyder joined the faculty of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona where he served as Chairman from 1991 until 2004. Currently, he is in private practice in Tucson Arizona, and is a tenured Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizona. Dr. Snyder has conducted a great deal of research focused towards advancing the science of vision care. He has published more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and also has two patents.

Dr. Snyder is affiliated with a number of professional medical societies, some of which include the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and The Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group of which he is a past president. Dr. Snyder has spoken frequently at national and international eye care meetings.

Dr. Snyder's primary goal and source of professional satisfaction is to provide you with the best possible care. To this end he limits his sphere of surgical activity and aims to "do a few things and do them well." His focus is on laser refractive surgery "LASIK and Epi-LASIK," advanced cataract surgery and "presbyopia correcting intraocular lenses." He makes himself available to his patients and does not delegate preoperative and postoperative care to other providers. His top priority is to help you meet your visual needs.

Brian A. Hunter, MD, earned his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship program in ocular pathology and research at the University of Utah, as well as an internal medicine internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Dr. Hunter then moved to Tucson and did his ophthalmology residency at the University of Arizona, and was named Chief Resident. Dr. Hunter is a Clinical Instructor in comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery at the University of Arizona, and the Director of the Department of Ophthalmology and the Section Chief of Cataract Surgery at the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration Hospital. Last year, he performed almost 600 cataract cases; 250 involved him in a supervisory position. Dr. Hunter is also a principal investigator for a study on age-related macular degeneration and Parkinson’s disease. He has published book chapters and journal articles and has been recognized for professional excellence throughout his career.

Dr. Hunter is a knowledgeable and compassionate eye doctor. He values patient education and honest communication and treats each patient with respect and dignity.
