Our patients at the Shealy Eye Laser Center are the most important visitors.
As a patient, you are not dependent upon us; we are dependent upon you.
You are not an interruption of our work; you are the purpose of it.
You are not considered an outsider to our practice; you are the most important part of it.
We are not doing you a favor by serving you; you are doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so.
Welcome to the family of the Shealy Eye Laser Center.
We are dedicated to you, our patient, and your family and friends, whom we serve and cherish.

More About Dr. Shealy
Dr. Shealy was the 172nd ophthalmologist in the world to perform automated lamellar keratomileusis with the automated corneal shaper and was the first ophthalmologist in North America to perform hinged keratomileusis with a mechanical stop. He has used monovision since 1994 in his own eyes. He was personally trained by Dr. Charles Casebeer in radial keratotomy and by Dr. Steven Hollis in corneal relaxing incisions and has performed 10,000 incisional keratotomies.
In 1999, he began performing LASIK with the Moria microkeratome and in 2000 he started using the disposable Moria microkeratome for flap or cap formation. In 2006 he abandoned bladed keratotomy for Superficial Epi-Laser vision correction. In 2004, he stopped performing non-flying spot or broad beam laser vision correction (due to nighttime glare and haloes) in favor of the Allegretto Wavefront optimized or guided laser vision correction. His re-treatment rate dropped to less than .5 percent using these techniques. See website results at www.shealyeye.com.
Dr. Shealy uses NearVision conductive keratoplasty on a very limited basis for patients who have had laser vision correction. He is planning to serve his patients with the Leonardo Da Vinci femtosecond laser and performs only bladeless LASIK if requested by the patient.
During the Clinton administration, Dr. Shealy served with Dr. Monte Holland, previous ophthalmology professor at Tulane University, on the FDA Oversight Committee that fought the use of access cards. No. 00-2313 “C”; United States Federal District Court; Eastern District of Louisiana and United States Court of Appeals, New Orleans, LA, File: 357.2344.
