Dr. Michael Sayegh
Serving patients seeking LASIK eye surgery in Hudson Valley and the surrounding area
Michael Sayegh, MD, is a highly skilled, board-certified ophthalmologist at Cataract and Laser Eye Surgeons. He specializes in vision correction procedures, including LASIK, and is proud to offer advanced techniques and technologies to ensure that patients receive the best care available. Due to his expertise and outstanding surgical record, the surgeon has earned a reputation for excellence throughout the Hudson Valley.
Cataract and Laser Eye Surgeons utilize the latest technologies in vision correction.
In addition to LASIK eye surgery, the surgical team of Cataract and Laser Eye Surgeons offers PRK, cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment, macular degeneration treatment, diabetic retinopathy treatment and clear lens surgery or RLE (refractive lens exchange). Similar to cataract surgery, during RLE the surgeon extracts the patient's natural lens and replaces it with an IOL. Clear lens surgery is used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness and presbyopia. It can eliminate the need for bifocal eyeglasses, reading glasses or contact lenses.

More About Michael Sayegh, MD
Dr. Sayegh specializes in conventional and CustomVue LASIK eye surgery. He combines a range of leading-edge technologies with his expertise and unsurpassed surgical skills to help patients obtain optimal vision outcomes. Most patients who undergo vision correction at Cataract and Laser Eye Surgeons are able to achieve remarkable results and greatly reduce their dependency on traditional eyewear. LASIK eye surgery can be used to correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
To perform LASIK eye surgery, Dr. Sayegh first numbs the patient's eye with anesthetic eye drops for maximum comfort. Next, he uses a microkeratome to create the corneal flap, which is gently lifted back to expose the underlying corneal tissue. Following flap creation, an excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea, thereby eliminating even the smallest vision flaws. The flap is then placed back into its original position to aid in healing. LASIK eye surgery takes a few minutes and most patients are able to experience better vision the following day.
For patients who may not be good candidates for LASIK, Dr. Sayegh offers alternative treatment options, including RLE with intraocular lens implants (IOLs) and PRK; the latter does not involve the creation of the corneal flap required for LASIK.
