Liviu B. Saimovici, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has specialized in vision correction surgery since 1983. Dr. Saimovici is a leader in the field of refractive surgery and has accomplished many firsts in the New York City and Westchester areas. He was the first in New York City to acquire and place a laser for vision correction in a private practice, the first in Westchester County to perform CK (conductive keratoplasty) Surgery to correct reading vision, first in New York to perform Epi-LASIK, and the first in New York City to perform LASIK using a disposable keratome. He is recognized for his leadership as an inventor, mentor, and teacher to other eye surgeons. He has been selected by dozens of other physicians for their vision correction procedure.

Dr. Saimovici is the medical director, founder, and chief surgeon of Advanced Eye Care. Only the best technology is used to correct each patient's vision. For LASIK surgery, the VISX Star S4 CustomVue excimer laser system is used. This wavefront-guided custom laser system provides a highly accurate measure of the corneal curvature. This measurement is then used to create a customize laser beam to correct each eye. To create the corneal flap, the "All Laser LASIK" procedure is used, called IntraLASIK. The combination of Dr. Saimovici's extensive experience and top technology provides for excellent visual results. Dr. Saimovici also offers PRK, LASEK, and Epi-LASIK for laser vision correction, and removable corneal inserts called Intacs to correct keratoconus and low myopia.

Liviu B. Saimovici, MD, is an engineer by training, receiving his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering with honors, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and performed his residency at the prestigious Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. He was selected to serve as Chief Resident while completing his final year of residency. He is member of the Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Staff and School of Medicine Faculty. He is Chief of Refractive Surgery at St Vincent's Hospital, Manhattan, and is an attending physician at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, Beth Israel North. Dr. Saimovici is an active member of the major ophthalmology organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
