Dr. Sheri L. Rowen
Sheri L. Rowen, MD, FACS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in LASIK, new advances in refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Rowen is well known for her expertise in advances in ophthalmic surgery and for the treatment of cataracts. She was one of the first surgeons in the Baltimore area to incorporate the ALLEGRETTO WAVE™ custom wavefront LASIK procedure and was one of the first ophthalmologists in the United States to introduce no-stitch, no-needle, small-incision cataract surgery. This painless technique provides "instant vision" for cataract patients. She was also the first ophthalmic surgeon in the Baltimore area to offer Crystalens surgery, the first FDA-approved implant lens that simultaneously corrects for near and distance vision. Her leadership in implant surgery also led to her being selected as an investigator for the new implantable contact lens.
Dr. Rowen is a highly coveted speaker who lectures nationally and internationally about advancements in laser vision correction, cataract surgery, and facial rejuvenation. She is also often asked to appear in local and national television and print media to share her expertise about new developments in eye care. Her focus is to provide the highest quality care for facial cosmetic treatment and vision correction surgery in the LASIK Baltimore community.
More About the Rowen Laser Vision and Cosmetic Center
Each staff member of the Rowen Laser Vision and Cosmetic Center has been personally selected and trained by Dr. Rowen to provide the best patient care. For LASIK surgery, Dr. Rowen uses the ALLEGRETTO WAVE™ custom wavefront guided system from Wavelight. The ALLEGRETTO WAVE™ represents a break-through in customized LASIK technology. This laser is the first to be "wavefront optimized" so that the optical characteristics of the eye can be measured and corrected to the most minute levels. The laser beam profile and eye-tracking system are specifically designed for maintaining the corneal curvature for each individual patient, thereby correcting visual error and preventing the likelihood of night vision glare and halos.
Dr. Rowen is a highly skilled implant surgeon who performs implant surgery with the newest technology IOLs, including Crystalens, ReSTOR, and Visian ICL™, depending on the patient requirements. For facial rejuvenation, she offers BOTOX Cosmetic, Restylane, Thermage, Contour Thread Lift, Microdermabrasion, Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and others. Each patient is meticulously examined to determine the optimal treatment recommendation.
