Sheri L. Rowen, MD, FACS, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in LASIK,
new advances in refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Rowen is
well known for her expertise in advances in ophthalmic surgery and for the treatment of
cataracts. She was one of the first surgeons in the Baltimore area to incorporate the
ALLEGRETTO WAVE™ custom wavefront LASIK procedure and was one of the first ophthalmologists in the United States to introduce
no-stitch, no-needle, small-incision cataract surgery. This painless technique provides
"instant vision" for cataract patients. She was also the first ophthalmic surgeon in the
Baltimore area to offer Crystalens surgery, the first FDA-approved implant lens that
simultaneously corrects for near and distance vision. Her leadership in implant surgery
also led to her being selected as an investigator for the new implantable contact lens.
Dr. Rowen is a highly coveted speaker who lectures nationally and internationally
about advancements in laser vision correction, cataract surgery, and facial rejuvenation.
She is also often asked to appear in local and national television and print media to
share her expertise about new developments in eye care. Her focus is to provide the

Sheri L. Rowen, MD, FACS, completed her medical degree, graduating with Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors, at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. Before performing her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Maryland, Dr. Rowen completed a two-year research fellowship at the world-renowned Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University. She also served as a research assistant for the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute.
Dr. Rowen continues to share her expertise with upcoming ophthalmic surgeons as a Clinical Instructor of ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and as a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Surgeons. Dr. Rowen is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
