More About Rohr Eye and Laser Center

Dr. Rohr's facilities are equipped with the latest in laser vision technology.

Dr. Rohr is dedicated to providing his patients with the finest vision correction results in the safest, most comfortable manner possible. For laser eye surgery, he uses the sophisticated Technolas 217z Zyoptix excimer laser platform, which incorporates flying spot scanning and wavefront measurement technologies. Dr. Rohr begins each treatment by using the system's wavefront technology to create a 3-D map of the patient's eye detailing minute imperfections that go undetected in traditional LASIK scans. He uses this map to precisely program the excimer laser, which gently reshapes the patient's cornea so that it can refract light rays correctly.

In order to provide his patients with a completely blade-free LASIK experience, Dr. Rohr creates the corneal flap — the initial step of LASIK surgery — by using the advanced Ziemer FEMTO LDV laser (as opposed to a mechanical blade). This precise approach completely eliminates the risk of blade-related complications, thus enhancing the safety of the LASIK procedure. In addition to LASIK, Dr. Rohr also offers LASEK and PRK laser vision correction surgeries. He recommends and performs the latter two procedures for certain patients who cannot undergo LASIK surgery due to their thin corneas and/or large pupils.

Dr. Rohr is also highly experienced in NearVision CK (conductive keratoplasty) surgery. He was one of the first surgeons in the state of Michigan to offer this sophisticated procedure, which can improve near vision for patients over the age of 40. Dr. Rohr also specializes in astigmatic keratotomy (AK) — a procedure that corrects vision by reshaping the cornea. For patients requiring cataract surgery, he offers a state-of-the-art no-stitch, no-needle cataract treatment, which includes insertion of advanced intraocular lenses that simultaneously correct for both near and distance vision.
