More About Alamo Laser Vision Center
Dr. Rashid is the founder and President of Alamo Laser Vision Center. Dr. Rashid and ALVC have always been dedicated to having the best technology available for their patients. Dr. Rashid is fortunate to be able to provide his patients with the choice of more than one type of advanced laser technology. The ALLEGRETTO WAVE excimer laser system from Wavelight is the newest FDA approved excimer laser system. This innovative laser is a German design and uses a "wavefront optimized" technology. The laser beam profile and eye tracking system are specifically designed for maintaining the corneal curvature for each patient, thereby correcting spherical aberrations and preventing the likelihood of night vision halos and glare.

Dr. Rashid also uses CustomVue by VISX, which uses Wavefront mapping technology. The wavefront map details the unique characteristics of a person's eye and programs the laser for an individual "fingerprint" treatment. This laser is ideal for correcting and preventing higher order aberrations. IntraLase, or the "All Laser LASIK," procedure is also used during all of Dr. Rashid's LASIK procedures to create the corneal flap, the first step in the LASIK surgery. This specialized laser creates a flap of cornea tissue without the use of the traditional blade. The combination of the IntraLase, plus the advanced Custom lasers and the comprehensive training and experience of Dr. Rashid ensures the best visual outcomes.
Dr. Rashid also offers the newest technology intraocular lenses (IOLs), including the ReSTOR and ReZoom IOLs recently approved by the FDA. These multi-focal IOLs replace the natural lens and simultaneously correct for distance and reading vision. These lens implants are designed specifically for correcting those patients over 45 years old who want to completely eliminate the need for glasses or contacts. In FDA clinical trials, 94 percent of the patients were able to read the newspaper and drive without glasses after multi-focal implant surgery. Dr. Rashid is a highly skilled lens implant surgeon and has performed many thousands of surgeries.
