LASIK Eye Surgery at Rand Eye Institute
Over the course of his career, Dr. Rand has successfully completed thousands of refractive and microsurgical surgeries. In preparation for each procedure, he carefully examines the patient with leading-edge diagnostic equipment to assess the patient's needs, encourage comfort and safety and provide the best possible outcome. Dr. Rand makes sure a licensed anesthesiologist is present throughout all of his surgeries.
At Rand Eye Institute, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach LASIK patients have access to the world's most advanced LASIK procedures thanks to the precision and flexibility of the VISX STAR S4 CustomVue Laser with Wavescan technology. Prior to treatment Dr. Rand uses the Wavescan component of this state-of-the-art laser system to create a "fingerprint" of the eye, which is later used to calibrate the laser. The VISX STAR S4 also includes an iris registration feature, which monitors the rotation of the eye and keeps it aligned with the laser during surgery.

Dr. Rand is one of the most renowned eye surgeons in the world, having performed over 50,000 refractive and microsurgical procedures. Dr. Rand is the co-developer of the Rand-Stein Analgesia Protocol, which is used for both laser vision correction and cataract surgery. He has conducted extensive research aimed at understanding the link between cataract surgery and pseudoexfoliation syndrome. Dr. Rand's research on this subject aims to identify methods of preventing and reducing the incidence of cataract surgery complications.
