Before performing refractive surgery, he carefully examines each patient using modern tests to determine the patient's needs, ensure safety and comfort, and provide the best possible outcome. A licensed anesthesiologist is present during Dr. Rand's surgeries.
Rand Eye Institute is one of the most advanced eye surgery centers in the world.
Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach and West Palm Beach LASIK patients, as well as and Miami LASIK patients, can now benefit from the precision and flexibility provided by the VISX STAR S4 CustomVue Laser with Wavescan technology. This remarkable laser system is 25 times more precise than older systems. The WaveScan component produces a unique "fingerprint" map of the eye. This comprehensive map of the eye's optical system allows Dr. Rand to treat patients who in the past would not have been candidates for LASIK. The VISX STAR S4 also features iris registration, an FDA-approved technology that compensates for the eye's rotation and keeps the eye aligned with the laser during treatment. Iris Registration customizes corrections to the individual based on the unique characteristics of the eye to provide the best possible outcome.
