Respected by her peers as a preeminent specialist in refractive surgery, Dr. Belmont is a highly coveted speaker and regularly lectures to doctors from around the globe about advances in laser vision correction. She is on the cutting edge of new technology and serves as an investigator in FDA clinical trials on new technology. She played an important role in the early 1990s as an investigator in the first FDA study in which excimer lasers were tested and approved for refractive surgery. For LASIK surgery, she uses the newest in Custom wavefront technology. Wavefront technology provides for the precise measurement of the corneal curvature for each patient. This unique "corneal map" is then programmed into the Excimer laser and the cornea is reshaped in a customized fashion, ensuring maximum precision. In addition to LASIK, PRK and CK are offered for laser vision correction. Each patient is individually examined to determine the best option for vision correction. She also performs corneal transplants for patients with corneal disease or other cornea-related problems.
