More About Dr. Jacobo V. Najman
Dr. Jacobo Najman received his medical degree at Mexico City's Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He completed his Ophthalmology residency and served as chief resident at the Asociación para Evitar la Ceguera en México (APEC), a collaborative institution of UNAM dedicated to the prevention of blindness among citizens of scarce financial means.
At APEC, Dr. Najman also completed subspecialty training on the cornea, ocular external disease and refractive surgery. Dr. Najman went on to complete a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at the prestigious Jules Stein Eye Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Dr. Najman's principal areas of interest include laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and corneal transplant. He has published articles in many peer-reviewed publications in Mexico and abroad and was the first ophthalmologist to describe the association of glaucoma and the post-LASIK liquid interface as well as the association between VKH Syndrome and Guillian-Barre Syndrome.
Dr. Najman serves currently as a consultant for Radio Imagen, is an active member of the Centro Mexicano de Córnea y Cirugía Refractiva and instructs the course offered annually by this association. He has taught numerous courses and lectures on vision correction techniques at conferences in Mexico, the United States, China, Venezuela and Brazil, and is a member of several Mexican and international medical organizations, including:
