More About Dr. Nahl

Angela Nahl, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in laser vision correction. She completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard University and her medical degree at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. In addition, she received numerous scholarships and grants to study ophthalmology and perform eye research. She completed her residency at the prestigious Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California, where she refined her skills in surgery, performing hundreds of intraocular and other eye surgeries. She was also able to work with top faculty members in specialty areas of ophthalmology.

Dr. Nahl is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons, and is the author of many papers and lectures.

Technology

Because of their precision, Dr. Nahl prefers to use any of a number of all-Laser procedures, including LASIK, Intralase, LASEK, PRK (Advanced Surface Ablation), and others. The most current laser systems are so advanced they are able to actually lock onto the eye's position and follow it throughout the course of the treatment. This results in the most precise measurements and the best results. In addition, when precision lasers are used they often correct for visual impairments that eyeglasses cannot redress — like shadows, glare, halos, and other blurriness.

The exact treatment and equipment used for your procedure will depend on the correction needed, your age, your health, and other factors. When appropriate, treatments may also be performed using the Allegretto laser, which provides better results for patients whose needs are outside the parameters for Custom VISX treatment.
