iLASIK - the Gold Standard in Laser Vision Correction
The decision to have laser vision correction is an important one. There are several different technologies available, but iLASIK has become the gold standard for best possible outcomes. The technology specific to an iLASIK procedure is the VISX star4 Excimer Laser, CustomVue Wavefront technology and the blade-free IntraLase® method.
With the IntraLase® method, pulses of laser light create your corneal flap, which is then lifted so the next step of LASIK — the reshaping of your cornea – can be performed. When your LASIK treatment is over, the flap is gently repositioned into place. This bladeless, computer-guided technology is more accurate than most of the mechanical microkeratomes (handheld devices with a thin metal blade) used to create a corneal flap.
Not everyone is a candidate for LASIK. There are other methods that can create the same desired outcome in a different way, which is why it is essential to choose a surgeon that has the experience and knowledge required to determine the best treatment option for your eyes, and your individual situation.

More About Minnesota Eye Consultants
Each patient is meticulously examined to determine the best option for vision correction surgery. To perform LASIK, wavefront guided technology is used. This unique excimer laser system captures a precise measure of the corneal shape and then creates a customized laser beam profile to correct each eye. In addition to LASIK surgery, Minnesota Eye Consultants also perform PRK and LASEK laser vision correction. The newest IOLs (intraocular lenses) are also offered, including IOLs that simultaneously correct for near and distance vision and for those highly myopic patients who do not qualify for LASIK. CK Surgery (conductive keratoplasty) and LTK (laser thermal keratoplasty) are also available for the correction of hyperopia. Although, the surgeons are on the cutting edge of new technology, they are conservative in their approach to laser vision correction and refractive surgery. After a comprehensive examination, a high percentage of patients are advised not to undergo surgery. Minnesota Eye Consultants is also a comprehensive eye care facility offering the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and cataracts.
