More About Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center
The doctors at Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center combine surgical experience and leading-edge technology to treat all of their patients' eye care needs. They possess extensive experience having performed more than 30,000 cataract surgeries to help Katy, Austin and Houston cataracts patients see clearly with "no-stitch" procedures. Previous lens replacement technologies only provided for clear distance vision, leaving patients dependent on reading glasses or bifocals after surgery for good vision. The advanced lens technologies at Mann Eye Institute Cataract Centers make it possible for patients to read, work on the computer and see the dashboard better than before. Recent studies have shown that 83% of patients who chose a premium lens no longer are dependent on glasses or contact lenses for functional vision.
Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center offers the most advanced laser vision correction procedures available today custom Blade-Free LASIK with the Allegretto Wave excimer laser and CustomVue LASIK to help patients eliminate their dependency on glasses and contact lenses. Traditional LASIK surgery requires the use of a microkeratome blade to make a corneal flap while Blade-Free LASIK uses the IntraLase femtosecond laser to create a custom flap.
The LASIK centers in Houston and Katy were the first facilities in Texas to offer Blade-Free LASIK with the Allegretto excimer laser. Refractive surgery performed with the Allegretto excimer laser incorporates WaveFront technology, which not only improves the quality of vision during daylight but also helps prevent the problems Austin LASIK patients sometimes have with night vision. This technology also uses a unique eye-tracking system to automatically adjust the excimer laser to changes in a patient's pupil size during treatment. Mann Eye Institute also offers cataract surgery in Austin.
CustomVue LASIK uses a combination of WaveScan technology, the 3-D Active Tracker system and the VISX STAR 4 excimer laser to help provide optimal results. WaveScan technology measures and identifies imperfections in a patient's eye 25 times more accurately than traditional methods. The 3-D Active Tracker device follows and monitors the position of the eye 60 times per second during the LASIK procedure. This allows the VISX STAR 4 excimer laser to provide continuous treatment, which leads to a higher level of safety, precision and comfort.
What Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center Patients Are Saying
Roxanne, Radio Personality
"Thanks to the Mann Eye Institute, worrying about my vision is a thing of the past. Hi, I'm Roxanne Wilson from Family Friendly Mornings on 102.3 The River. I had Blade-Free LASIK with the ALLEGRETTO WAVE Eye-Q laser from the Mann Eye institute and nothing has ever been the same. Glasses and contacts have been a part of my life since I was six years old! But from the moment I opened my eyes after my procedure, I had better vision than I could ever imagine, 20/15!
Making the decision to have LASIK wasn't easy for me. I mean after all we are talking about my eyes. But after meeting all of the wonderful staff at Mann Eye Institute (and drilling them with every question imaginable) I was confident that if LASIK was the way to go, then Mann Eye Institute was the ONLY place to get it. And now here I am, utterly satisfied with my choice to trust the Mann Eye Institute. My friends and River listeners time and time again have gone to Mann Eye and been pleased not only with the procedure, but with the service. If you are even the least bit curious about LASIK procedure, sitting down with the Mann Eye Institute is a must!" Roxanne, Radio Personality
Heather, Radio Personality
"I'm Heather White from the KASE Morning Crew! I had Blade-Free LASIK with the ALLEGRETTO WAVE Eye-Q laser at Mann Eye Institute, and it was a life-changing experience! I can see! The silliest things thrill me: I can read the clock in the morning! I can see myself in the mirror! I can go swimming and never have to worry about glasses or contacts!! I especially loved how the people at Mann Eye Institute treated me like a VIP from the minute I walked in their office. My vision is now 20/15, better than when I was a kid! I love the fact that I can send my friends (and my husband!) to MEI with complete confidence. I love that Drs. Mike & Paul Mann are so respected and esteemed by their peers, too. They have great bedside manner and explained everything from start to finish, calming any nerves I had. From the first consultation through the follow-up appointments, my whole experience at Mann Eye Institute was incredible." Heather, Radio Personality
"I walked in the office and less than 24 hours later, I had great vision. LASIK at Mann Eye Institute was the best decision of my life." Mike Gallo, Professional Baseball Player
"The entire staff at the Mann Eye Institute was great, and I really felt at ease about a potentially intimidating procedure. And after seeing how pleased I was with my results, my wife went in and had her vision corrected too. I can't say enough good things about our experiences with the Mann Eye Institute!" Chris Rice, Radio Personality
"The reason I chose Dr. Mann is simply because he is the best. He is one of the pioneers of the LASIK procedure and he has a tremendous reputation. When dealing with something as delicate as eye surgery, I wanted to be sure I was in the hands of the best." Lee Labrada
