Kenneth Lipstock, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is a leader in the field of laser vision correction. In the mid 1990s, Dr. Lipstock studied with Dr. Luis Ruiz, a world-famous pioneer in refractive surgery from Columbia, South America, who invented the surgical instrument that made the LASIK procedure possible. At that time Dr. Lipstock was honored to be the only American surgeon to perform surgery at Dr. Ruiz's center. Dr. Ruiz and he subsequently founded the International Center for Refractive Surgery in the Caribbean, which was designed to train U.S. surgeons on laser eye surgery before the procedure was approved in the United States. In 1995, Dr. Lipstock was the first surgeon in Virginia and one of the first surgeons in the U.S. to perform this surgery.

Kenneth Lipstock, MD, is the medical director and chief surgeon of Lipstock LASIK and Cataract Center. At his center, the most advanced technology is used for laser vision correction. For LASIK surgery, the sixth generation VISX S4 excimer laser system is used. This wavefront-guided custom LASIK system provides a highly accurate measure of the corneal curvature and then creates a customized ablation profile to correct each eye. To create the corneal flap, the "All Laser LASIK" or "Blade Free LASIK" procedure is used, called IntraLase. Dr. Lipstock was the first Richmond-based refractive surgeon to offer the IntraLase method. Kenneth Lipstock, MD, completed his undergraduate degree with honors, summa cum laude, at Queens City College of New York. He completed his medical degree and his residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia. He is an active member in the major ophthalmology organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
