Dr. Kenneth Lipstock
Kenneth Lipstock, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is a leader in the field of laser vision correction. He was the first surgeon in Virginia to perform LASIK and the first in Central Virginia to offer blade-free laser eye surgery. Early in his career, Dr. Lipstock studied with Dr. Luis Ruiz, a world-famous pioneer in refractive surgery from Columbia, South America, who invented the surgical instrument that made the LASIK procedure possible. At that time, Dr. Lipstock was honored to be one of the only American surgeons to perform surgery at Dr. Ruiz's center, which provided him with an in-depth knowledge of the LASIK procedure and helped him develop a masterful surgical technique. Together, Dr. Ruiz and Dr. Lipstock founded the International Center for Refractive Surgery in the Caribbean, which was designed to train U.S. surgeons on laser eye surgery before the procedure was approved in the United States.
Dr. Lipstock has a long history of providing excellent visual results through eye surgery and has been helping Virginians see clearly for 25 years. He runs a comprehensive ophthalmology practice providing a range of refractive surgery procedures, including LASIK and cataract surgery. Patients have traveled from across the United States and Canada to seek his skilled hands for the correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. He is highly detail oriented and personally examines each patient before and after surgery. This focus on quality along with Dr. Lipstock's commitment to use only the latest proven technology, including the blade-free IntraLase method and the VISX CustomVue excimer laser, are the reasons that more than 99.9 percent of his patients see clearly without eyeglasses or contact lenses.
Friendly, individualized care and the latest instruments ensure that Dr. Lipstock's patients receive the best treatment.

More About The Lipstock LASIK and Cataract Center
Patients feel at ease with Dr. Lipstock's expertise and vast experience.
Kenneth Lipstock, MD, is the Medical Director and Chief Surgeon of Lipstock LASIK and Cataract Center. At his center, the most advanced technology is used for laser vision correction. For LASIK surgery, the sixth generation VISX Star S4 excimer laser system is used. This wavefront-guided custom LASIK system provides a highly accurate measure of the corneal curvature and then creates a customized ablation profile to correct each eye. To create the corneal flap, the "All Laser LASIK" or "Blade Free LASIK" procedure is used, called IntraLase. Dr. Lipstock was the first Richmond-based refractive surgeon to offer the IntraLase method. The combination of VISX Custom LASIK, IntraLase and Dr. Lipstock's comprehensive training and experience provides for excellent surgical outcomes.
In addition to LASIK, Dr. Lipstock is an expert cataract surgeon, using the most advanced "no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch" surgical technique. The newest in intraocular lens (IOL) technology is available, including IOLs that simultaneously correct for near and distance vision and IOLs for highly myopic patients who do not qualify for LASIK surgery.
