Karen A. Heuer, MD, earned her undergraduate degree in molecular, cellular and developmental biology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She completed her medical degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine graduating with honors, and performed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. She has received many academic awards, including the Merck Award for achievement in medical studies, Dean Maurice H. Rees Award for outstanding scholarship and character, National Dean's List and the Kohler Scholarship. Dr. Heuer is an active member of the local and national ophthalmological societies, including the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians & Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
