Education Background
Dr. Mounir Bashour, a Biomedical Engineering graduate of Johns Hopkins University, completed his medical degree at McGill University.
He then specialized in ophthalmology at George Washington University in Washington D.C., after having completed a year as an intern at New York Medical College in Manhattan.
Dr. Bashour is one of the only ophthalmologists in the world to have completed three post-doctoral fellowships: the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery fellowship in Oculoplastics at the University of Toronto, as well as a Pediatric Ophthalmology and a Refractive Surgery fellowship at McGill University.
Dr. Bashour completed his certificate of Teaching in the Biomedical Sciences and Royal College Clinician Investigator Program at the University of Toronto, where he also completed
a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Science.

Mark Cohen, MD, CM, FRCSC

Professional Background
Dr. Mark Cohen co-founded LASIK MD along with Dr. Avi Wallerstein. He is President of LASIK MD, and one of its two National Medical Directors.
Educational Background
Dr. Mark Cohen completed his medical degree (MD, CM) and specialization in ophthalmology (FRCSC) at the internationally renowned McGill University.
While at McGill, Dr. Cohen was awarded the prestigious Holmes' gold medal, given to the graduate of the Faculty of Medicine with the highest academic standing. He then completed his training with a post-doctoral fellowship corneal transplantation surgery and laser vision correction of the cornea.
Refractive Experience
Dr. Cohen has extensive experience in laser surgery using several types of lasers and microkeratomes. In 1998, he was one of the first surgeons in North
America to use a scanning-spot laser and large flap microkeratome, now a standard in the field of LASIK that has resolved night vision problems. He was also the youngest surgeon in North
America to perform LASIK surgery. In July 2001, in conjunction with Bausch & Lomb, he became the first surgeon in the world to clinically assess the new "zero compression" keratome,
specifically designed to allow for safer and thinner corneal flaps for LASIK surgery. Dr. Cohen has also performed thousands of Zyoptix wavefront procedures.
Dr. Cohen is a certified C-LASIK instructor, one of 14 surgeons in North America with this designation to teach LASIK. He has lectured and taught the PRK and LASIK procedures to over 100
eye surgeons and ophthalmologists-in-training. He has given 6 international courses on beginner and advanced LASIK techniques. Dr. Cohen is co-author of the governmental Council for the Evaluation
of Health Care Technology's report on LASIK and PRK.

In 2007, Dr. Cohen was named Quebec’s Young Professional of the Year, by the Chamber of Commerce of Quebec.
In 2008, Dr. Cohen was honored to be named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 in a national competition sponsored by the Globe and Mail national newspaper. Dr. Avi Wallerstein completed his medical degree at Queen's University in Canada and then specialized in ophthalmology at McGill University in Montreal.
Dr. Wallerstein completed his post-doctoral fellowship training in cornea and laser refractive surgery at North Shore University Hospital and New York University in New York. Very few
surgeons in Quebec have this specialized background.

Dr. Wallerstein has worked in several laser vision correction clinics throughout Canada, Europe and Asia. In Canada, Dr. Wallerstein has worked for
