Richard Bains, MD, FRCS(C), received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Medicine in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He completed his internship and residency in ophthalmology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, where he served his final year as the Chief Resident. In addition, Dr. Bains completed an advanced clinical fellowship in ophthalmology at Harvard University's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, Massachusetts. At Harvard, he was named Fellow of the Year in 1994 — a coveted designation attesting to his exceptional clinical performance. Dr. Bains has also received specialized laser eye surgery training under the guidance of Dr. Howard Gimbel, an internationally recognized leader in the field of ophthalmology.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bains has performed more than 30,000 LASIK procedures. He is a published author whose articles have appeared in many prestigious ophthalmic journals. Dr. Bains has also co-authored several laser eye surgery textbooks and is a managing co-editor of The Atlas of Ophthalmology, a comprehensive volume on the principles and practice of ophthalmology. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Bains is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. In addition, he maintains active memberships in such prominent professional organizations as the Canadian Ophthalmological Society, the Canadian Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the International Society of Refractive Surgery and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

David W. Johnson, MD, FRCS(C), earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from McGill University's Faculty of Medicine in Montreal, Quebec. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, where he served his final year as Chief Resident. While at this institution, Dr. Johnson received the J.L. Gayton award for outstanding achievement in the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program, as well as several awards for his ophthalmological research. In addition to this, Dr. Johnson completed a two-year residency in family medicine at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Johnson has performed more than 15,000 LASIK procedures. He currently serves as the Chief of Surgery at Woodstock General Hospital, and as an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario. He is also a published author whose articles have appeared in several respected medical journals. Dr. Johnson is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also an active member of the Canadian Ophthalmology Society, the Canadian Medical Association, the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Medical Association, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
