Educational Background
Dr. Christopher Jackman completed his honours in Biochemistry and medical degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland. After graduating from Biochemistry with the
highest academic standing, he also graduated from medicine amongst the top of his class and on the Dean's List of Medicine. He then completed his specialization in ophthalmology with the Ivey Eye
Institute at the University of Western Ontario, where he served as chief resident.
Refractive Experience
Dr. Jackman is a well respected eye surgeon, having performed over 8,000 ocular procedures. During his residency training, he had the privilege to train with
some of the foremost cataract and refractive surgeons in the country. He has dedicated his practice to the use of the latest cutting edge technologies and techniques in cataract and refractive surgery.
Accomplishments and Awards
Dr. Jackman has given presentations at several major national and international ophthalmology conferences, including the American Society of Cataract
and Refractive Surgery, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Canadian Ophthalmology Society. He has received various awards for his presentations and has had his
research published in various scientific and medical journals. During his residency training, Dr. Jackman also received numerous awards for leadership and excellence in the teaching and training

Bruce Pretty, MD, LMCC, FRCSC

Dr. Bruce Pretty completed his undergraduate degree at Acadia University and graduated from Dalhousie Medical School. Following three years in general practice,
Dr. Pretty returned to Dalhousie in to complete his ophthalmic training.
Refractive Experience
Dr. Pretty opened a private Ophthalmology practice in Halifax in 1978. Having spent many years fitting contact lens, Dr. Pretty began performing laser refractive
surgery in 1995. At first, he exclusively performed PRK refractive surgery, but as the hansatome evolved (flap-making tool used during the procedure), he also began performing LASIK surgeries.
Today, LASIK eye surgery is his treatment of choice for patients who are appropriate candidates for the procedure. To date, Dr. Pretty has performed thousands of refractive procedures in both
Nova Scotia and Ontario.
Accomplishments and Awards
Dr. Pretty continues to lecture at Dalhousie Medical School. His personal hobbies include flying a twin-engine Piper, fishing, hunting and traveling.
