The combination of technology on-premise at LEC allows fully customized diagnoses and treatment for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism with the broadest range of FDA-approvals to-date.
Trusted by More Eye Doctors
More eye doctors choose to send their patients to LEC for laser vision correction procedures than any other center in Hawaii. Collectively, these eye doctors comprise a network that is the largest of its kind in the state. More than 120 independently practicing eye doctors on every major island and in Tokyo, Japan have chosen to be a part of the network. Every doctor has an eye care practice and, as part of their association with LEC, is credentialed and specially trained to provide pre- and post-operative care for laser vision correction patients.
Team Approach to Care - A Visible Difference
Doctors in the network drive a model of patient care built on teamwork. When you become a patient at LEC, you have a team of eye doctors working for you. Doctors of optometry and ophthalmology collaborate across disciplines, to deliver unparalleled expertise and exceptional patient care.
If you are considering LASIK, it's ideal to have an eye doctor with whom you have an established rapport. Like all eye surgeries, laser vision correction requires a comprehensive understanding of your eye history-history your doctor knows best. Participating doctors work collaboratively with Dr. Jacqueline Ueda, LEC's Director of Laser Vision Services and affiliated surgeons to design a custom treatment plan tailored to the way you see life. Advanced FDA-Approved Technology & Commitment to Safety
The Laser Eye Center of Hawaii is the first in the State to offer iLASIK, a new standard in all-laser LASIK. iLASIK is a combination of the most advanced FDA-approved technologies. It's a combination of technologies so clinically beneficial, that it's LEC's standard of care for every LASIK patient. Now, with an advanced suite of fully integrated, iLASIK technologies, your LASIK experience can be customized from start to finish. The complete package of iLASIK technologies includes:
- IntraLase™ Femtosecond Laser
- VISX Star S4 IR™ Excimer Laser
- VISX Wavescan WaveFront™ Diagnostics
- VISX Advanced CustomVue™ Treatment
- VISX Iris Registration™ Technology
Intralase is the first and only technology to provide an all-laser method of creating a safer and fully customized corneal flap. The creation of the corneal flap is the first step in every LASIK procedure. In clinical studies, more patients achieved vision 20/20 or better with procedures incorporating the IntraLase technique.
In the second step of the LASIK procedure, LEC utilizes the VISX STAR S4 excimer laser to perform the actual laser treatment that corrects the patient's prescription. The integration of VISX CustomVue diagnostic eye-mapping and Iris Registration technologies offer unprecedented customization and accuracy. Ultimately, this makes it possible for the actual laser treatment to be fully customized to the unique characteristics of each eye.
CustomVue's revolutionary Wavescan diagnostics measure imperfections in an individual's eye 25 times more precisely than standard methods for contacts or glasses. Iris Registration is the first fully automated method of aligning and registering one-of-a-kind wavefront correction, helping to ensure the precision and accuracy of every laser vision treatment. This precise level of measurement and treatment can enable individuals to achieve the full potential of their personal best vision.
