Daniel S. Durrie, MD

Daniel S. Durrie, MD is a dominant force in the development of new and better refractive surgery techniques to correct for nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia and astigmatism. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist who has more than 20 years of experience in corneal and refractive surgery and has performed more than 30,000 laser vision correction procedures. Dr. Durrie is a highly coveted speaker who routinely speaks to worldwide audiences about his knowledge and expertise in refractive surgery. His lectures include the highly prestigious Barraquer Lecture at the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2002.

He has also been selected multiple times as one of "America's Top Doctors" and "America's Top Ophthalmologists." About Durrie Vision

Dr. Durrie serves as the leader of the Durrie Vision research and surgical teams. Each patient is meticulously examined by Dr. Durrie and his staff members to ensure the best possible vision after surgery. Laser vision correction is performed with the newest and most advanced customized excimer laser technology: the LADARVision CustomCornea from Alcon. This customized technology uses wavefront measurement tools to accurately map each subtle aspect of the patient's cornea. This map is then programmed into the wavefront technology of the excimer laser so that the LASIK procedure can be specifically customized for each eye, providing "high-definition" vision never before possible. Durrie Vision is the only practice in the Kansas City area with the most recently upgraded version of LADARVision CustomCornea.

In addition to LASIK, Durrie Vision offers PRK, LASEK and AK for laser vision correction. Durrie Vision also provides CK surgery to correct near vision, Intacs (removable corneal inserts for keratoconus and myopia) and Verisyse IOLs for those patient who do not qualify for LASIK eye surgery. Dr. Durrie's Background

Dr. Durrie obtained his undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Nebraska. He attended medical school and completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery was performed at Filkins Eye Consultants of Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Durrie is recognized as a world leader in ophthalmology surgery and serves leadership roles in virtually every major worldwide ophthalmology organization, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (RSIG Executive Board), the International Society of Refractive Surgery (Secretary and Board Member), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (Educational Committee) and the Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance (Chairman and Trustee). He also serves as a clinical associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center and is a staff member of St. Luke's Hospital, Children's Mercy Hospital, Trinity Lutheran Hospital and Truman Medical Center.

Dr. Durrie has published numerous scientific papers and book chapters detailing his advances in refractive surgery. He has also been selected as a reviewer of scientific publications to review the work of other refractive surgeons before it can be published. Dr. Durrie is truly a man of vision.
