More About Joffe MediCenter
The Joffe MediCenter houses the Technolas 217z Zyoptix System to provide unparalleled refractive surgery treatment to its patients. In a clinical study, 91.5 percent of the patients who had their refractive surgeries performed with the Zyoptix System achieved 20/20 vision or better.
The Zyoptix System allows Dr. Whiting to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. This system incorporates the Orbscan IIz Anterior Segment Analysis System and the Zywave II Wavefront Aberrometer. The Orbscan provides a thorough analysis of the anterior segment of the eye to determine LASIK candidacy, and the Zywave creates a three-dimensional map of the eye, which is used to determine the correct treatment.
Patients undergoing LASIK at Joffe MediCenter choose from two tools used to create the "corneal flap." Dr. Whiting is certified to use and experienced with both the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix XP microkeratome (a blade) and the IntraLase laser, each of which can be used to create the flap that gives the excimer laser access to the underlying portion of the cornea (the stroma).
