Customized, Highly Effective Treatments at Joffe MediCenter
Joffe MediCenter was established by laser eye surgery pioneers who were committed to providing the highest quality LASIK treatments and outstanding patient care. Dr. Smith and his LASIK team carry on this tradition by using state-of-the-art technologies to deliver exceptional LASIK results.
Dr. Smith uses the Orbscan camera and custom wavefront analyzers to create a very precise, three dimensional map of the cornea. This map reveals even the minutest imperfections in the corneal shape. Dr. Smith uses the corneal map for two purposes. First, he studies the map to decide whether the patient is a candidate for LASIK. Second, he uses the map to program the excimer laser so that it corrects each patient's unique corneal flaws.
Dr. Smith is certified to use several excimer laser platforms, including the Alcon Allegretto Wave excimer laser and the Bausch & Lomb Technolas 217z Zyoptix laser. After calibrating the excimer laser, Dr. Smith positions it over the cornea. The laser then administers a cool laser beam onto the cornea in order to adjust its shape. As a result, the cornea is able to process light rays properly, which results in clear images being transmitted to the brain.
Before administering the excimer laser energy, Dr. Smith creates a small flap in the cornea (the clear part of the eye). He uses the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix XP microkeratome to accomplish this task. Dr. Smith then gently folds the corneal flap out of the way to prepare the eye for the application of the excimer laser treatment. After the cornea has been reshaped, he replaces the flap onto the eye's surface where it serves as a natural bandage. The entire LASIK treatment requires only minutes to complete, and it allows Dr. Smith to help hyperopic, myopic and astigmatic patients achieve clear vision without corrective lenses.
At Joffe, it is our commitment to make LASIK affordable and accessible. With multiple financing plans to fit any budget, your per eye payments can be as low as approximately $1 per day!
