More About Joffe MediCenter
The Joffe MediCenter in Atlanta houses leading-edge laser equipment, including the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix Custom Wavefront system and the advanced Alcon Allegretto Wavelight 400 Hz. These advanced laser systems allow Dr. Smith to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
The Zyoptix and Allegretto Wavelight systems work by creating a three-dimensional map of the eye, which is used to customize each LASIK treatment. The excimer laser is then utilized to reshape the cornea in order to produce optimal vision correction results.
Dr. Smith completed advanced training to hone his skills with the microkeratome and the IntraLase femtosecond laser, each of which can be used to create the thin flap that gives the excimer laser access to the underlying portion of the cornea (the stroma). Following vision correction, the corneal flap is placed back into its previous position to act as a natural bandage for the eye.
