What to Expect at INVISION

Deborah K. Smith, COMT, BSBA
Refractive Surgery Coordinator
INVISION at Midwest Eye Institute

While highly skilled and experienced, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Deitch are conservative in their approach to laser vision correction. They have a profound knowledge of corneal surgery and can provide expert advice on the best options for laser vision correction. All prospective patients meet with Deborah Smith, a refractive surgery coordinator, at their initial office visit. Deborah conducts preliminary vision screening tests, including: acuities, lensometry, refractometry, corneal topography and pachymetry to determine if the patient meets the specific criteria for refractive surgery. The doctors examine their patients at the second visit, the pre-operative evaluation, to ensure the patient is a candidate for a favorable refractive surgery outcome. Only those patients who are expected to have an excellent outcome are advised to have surgery. At this visit, the doctors review the risks and benefits of the procedure and allocate ample time to answer questions and address concerns. The day of the procedure, the doctor is available to address any last minute questions prior to surgery; during the procedure, great care is taken to explain each step of the procedure to ease anxiety. Post-operatively, the doctors meet with their patients to monitor the progress of healing and to measure the surgical results. Both doctors live locally and are always available to see their patients in case of an emergency. This focus on patient care ensures the best results for each patient.

Premium Intraocular Lenses

In addition to LASIK refractive surgery, Drs. Johnson and Deitch also offer intraocular refractive procedures using a selection of premium intraocular lenses including AcrySof ReSTOR (multi-focal lens), Crystalens (accommodating lens), Acrysof Toric (astigmatism correcting lens) and a variety of monofocal lenses.

"I have hated glasses since I was ten years old. And now, after a procedure that seemed only to take seconds, I have thrown them away! I am thrilled with my vision and have had none of the side effects that the media reports. I was so happy with my experience at INVISION that I also paid for my daughter to have the procedure.
