Refractive Eye Surgery at The Woodlands Custom Vision Center

The Woodlands Custom Vision Center was established with patient safety and satisfaction in mind. The center features state-of-the-art surgical equipment and a highly experienced surgical team that is dedicated to helping all patients improve their eyesight.

The Woodlands Custom Vision Center was one of the first laser eye surgery practices in the Houston area to offer the sophisticated iLASIK procedure. Dr. Manrique De Lara begins this treatment by using WaveScan technology to create a detailed map of the patient's cornea. He then employs the IntraLase femtosecond laser to create a tiny flap in the cornea. Dr. Manrique De Lara then lifts the flap out of the way and uses the Allegretto excimer laser to reshape the underlying tissues. The Allegretto laser is pre-programmed to correct the corneal imperfections revealed on the WaveScan corneal map. The combination of WaveScan, IntraLase and Allegretto technologies helps promotes excellent vision at all distances.

In addition to LASIK, Dr. Manrique De Lara also offers presbyopia surgery, keratoconus therapy and cataract surgery. Presbyopia is a type of hyperopia that affects most people over the age of 40. In order to restore clear near vision in presbyopic patients, Dr. Manrique De Lara performs conductive keratoplasty (CK). This procedure uses radio waves to reshape the cornea so that it refracts the incoming light rays properly. Keratoconus is a condition whereby the cornea bulges forward. Dr. Manrique De Lara treats keratoconus by inserting Intacs corneal rings in the corneas. A cataract is the clouding of the eye's natural lens. In order to treat this condition, Dr. Manrique De Lara performs cataract surgery with premium IOLs, such as AcrySof ReSTOR and ReZoom IOLs.
