The Woodlands Custom Vision Center is staffed by highly trained professionals who use state-of-the-art technology to help patients achieve their desired vision goals. The Woodlands Custom Vision Center is one of the first iLASIK centers in the Houston area and offers other vision correction procedures such as conductive keratoplasty, Intacs and cataract treatment.
During iLASIK procedures, Dr. Manrique uses a combination of the IntraLase laser, WaveScan technology and the VISX STAR4 excimer laser to precisely treat each patient’s refraction. The IntraLase laser is a blade-free alternative used to construct the corneal flap. WaveScan technology creates a precise map of the eye. Dr. Manrique uses this detailed map to program the excimer laser for maximum effectiveness.
Many people over the age of 40 develop a form of farsightedness called presbyopia. To treat this common condition, Dr. Manrique performs conductive keratoplasty, which uses the controlled release of radio frequency energy to reshape the cornea. He uses Intacs to treat keratoconus (a thinning of the cornea), and for cataract treatment he implants the most advanced technology intraocular lenses (IOLS), including the ReStor and ReZoom IOLs.

Carlos Manrique, MD, has received extensive medical training throughout the United States. After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree, he completed internships at Harbor Hospital Center in Baltimore, Maryland and at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Manrique then studied neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and neuro-ophthalmology at Michigan State University.
Since 1995, Dr. Manrique has devoted his career to ophthalmology. He trained at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Manrique is a recognized educator in the field of ophthalmology and has served as an assistant professor at Texas A&M University and the Scott & White Clinic. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and International Society of Refractive Surgery.
