The Everett LASIK surgeons at the Harman Eye Clinic use the most advanced technology available for customized vision correction treatment. The state-of-the-art clinic is equipped with IntraLase femtosecond and VISX CustomVue wavefront-guided excimer laser technology to deliver personally tailored, exceptionally precise vision correction results.
Before starting the LASIK procedure, Drs. Ballon, Wietharn and Bajenova use wavefront imaging technology to capture the eye’s unique refractive errors, including extremely subtle vision errors called "higher order aberrations." They use this diagnostic data to calibrate the excimer laser used to reshape the curvature of the cornea during surgery.
The laser eye surgeon starts the LASIK procedure by using either a microkeratome (surgical blade) or, during iLASIK procedures, the IntraLase femtosecond laser to create a small flap in the surface of the cornea. After gently lifting back the corneal flap, he or she employs the excimer laser to remove microscopic flecks of tissue from the cornea. In doing so, the surgeon corrects the refractive error causing farsightedness, nearsightedness and / or astigmatism. Once the ophthalmologist is satisfied with the new curvature of the cornea, he or she replaces the corneal flap in its original position, where it re-bonds to the eye naturally.
Patients of the Harman Eye Clinic are happy to discover that the procedure is painless. They generally notice vision improvement within 24 to 48 hours of surgery. In most cases, Harman Eye Clinic LASIK patients no longer need to depend on prescription glasses or contact lenses to see well. More than 99 percent of individuals achieve 20/20 vision.
