Lanny B. Hale, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with more than 20 years of refractive surgery experience. Dr. Hale is the founder and lead surgeon of the Hale Vision Laser and Implant Center, a comprehensive eyecare facility geared toward providing patients with a unique brand of treatment that elicits the very best in visual outcome.

Dr. Hale is a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award in Laser Vision Correction Surgery, an honor bestowed by VISX to its top 50 surgeons in the country. He has participated in a number of FDA studies in radial keratotomy (RK) and excimer laser use, and in 2000, founded the Advanced Vision Correction Foundation, an institute dedicated to the research, development, and training of new and innovative refractive surgery techniques.

Dr. Hale uses the Intralase femtosecond laser system.

Also, he is one of the first 10 physicians certified to train other physicians on the use of the Intralase femtosecond laser system. This charter group of physicians was selected from more a thousand currently using this advanced laser system to create corneal flaps for the LASIK procedure. Dr. Hale is also one of a small number of physician trainers on the VISX excimer laser system, the second step of the LASIK procedure. It is this commitment to ongoing education and participation that has kept Hale Vision a leader in refractive surgery for more than 20 years.

Lanny B. Hale, MD, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin before attending the Medical College of Wisconsin where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Hale earned his Doctorate of Medicine in 1975 before participating in an internship program at the Milwaukee County Medical Complex. He remained at the Milwaukee County Medical Complex to complete a residency at the Eye Institute, being selected to serve as Chief Resident his final year. Hale holds a number of academic affiliations where he focuses on furthering the education of prospective ophthalmologists. He is currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and is a past Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Utah where he is also Co-Director of the Corneal/Refractive Fellowship program. Dr. Hale's reputation is such that he is often invited to lecture throughout the country on refractive surgery.

Dr. Hale has been a past and present member of a number of professional medical societies, some of which include: Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Milwaukee Ophthalmological Society, and the Society to Prevent Blindness.
