More about Vision Correction at Gordon Weiss Schanzlin Vision Institute
Drs. Gordon, Weiss and Schanzlin use wavefront optimized technology to customize vision correction treatment; wavefront-guided procedures offer patients enhanced precision and accuracy. The state-of-the-art, modern office of Gordon Weiss Schanzlin Vision Institute is outfitted with the most advanced diagnostic equipment and femtosecond and excimer lasers.
Before LASIK surgery, the surgeons use wavefront technology to produce a map of the patient's refractive errors, including any subtle vision problems that cannot be detected through any other diagnostic system.
During the LASIK procedure, the surgeons make a small flap in the surface of the cornea, using a femtosecond laser. After gently folding back the flap to reveal the underlying corneal tissue, the surgeon directs an excimer laser beam at the tissue to carefully reshape the cornea and eliminate the patient's refractive error. Once the surgeons have achieved the desired corneal shape, the flap is restored to its original position, where it seals itself naturally to the eye.
San Diego LASIK patients often notice a rapid improvement in their vision. Many wake up the day after surgery and are able to see things very clearly. Some even achieve 20/20 vision or better.
