Dr. Gladsden's facility is equipped with the VISX Star 4 Excimer Laser System, the most advanced laser system used to perform LASIK. The Star 4 incorporates variable spot scanning, specially designed to conserve patient tissue and optimize treatment times, and ActiveTrak 3-D active eye tracking and centering, designed to track any eye movement during the procedure and automatically maintain the proper treatment center. Robert Gladsden, MD, earned his Doctorate of Medicine from George Washington University in Washington, DC. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Gladsden traveled to Cleveland's Mt. Sinai Hospital where he participated in a select surgical internship and completed a residency in ophthalmology as Chief Resident. He has been dedicated to pursuing excellence in the field of refractive surgery since 1984 and is a past recipient of the "VISX STAR" surgeon's award (1999) for his performance as a refractive laser eye surgeon. The illustrious honor recognizes a surgeon's place in the top 5 percent of all LASIK surgeons nationwide. Having received so much by way of an ophthalmology education himself, Dr. Gladsden has been happy to help train tomorrow's refractive surgeons by serving as a Clinical Association Professor of Ophthalmology.
