More About Vision Correction at Focal Point Vision
Dr. Maverick was named one of the "Best Doctors in America" for ophthalmology by his peers according to Best Doctors, Inc.
As leaders in the field of laser eye surgery, the surgeons at Focal Point Vision use only the most advanced laser technology for their LASIK procedures. Doing so allows them to provide highly customized vision correction treatment and extremely precise results. The state-of-the-art practice is equipped with Intralase femtosecond laser technology for improved corneal flap creation as well as both the VISX S4 and Allegretto Wavelight laser platforms to re-shape the curvature of the cornea during the LASIK procedure. Depending on the patient's visual prescription and eye anatomy, the surgeon will recommend the laser platform that will best meet the patient's unique vision correction needs.
Before starting the LASIK procedure, Drs. Maverick and Lehmann use sophisticated diagnostic tools to capture the eye's unique refractive errors, including higher-order aberrations (extremely subtle vision problems). They use this diagnostic information to calibrate the excimer laser used to re-contour the cornea.
Drs. Maverick and Lehmann start the LASIK procedure by using the Intralase femtosecond laser to make a hinged flap in the cornea. After gently lifting back the flap, the laser eye surgeon uses the excimer laser to remove microscopic particles of the underlying corneal tissue, thereby correcting the refractive error causing the patient's nearsightedness, farsightedness and / or astigmatism. Once the surgeon is satisfied with the newly shaped cornea, he carefully replaces the corneal flap back in its original position, where it naturally re-bonds to the eye without the need for sutures.
San Antonio LASIK patients treated by Dr. Maverick or Dr. Lehmann find that the procedure is generally free from pain, and that it typically produces a dramatic improvement in their vision within 24 to 48 hours following the procedure. In most cases, individuals treated by the Focal Point Vision eye surgeons no longer need to rely on contact lenses or glasses to see clearly. In fact, more than 99 percent of LASIK patients achieve 20/20 vision.
