Fichte-Endl Eye Associates is one of the few practices in upstate New York that offers three different excimer lasers to perform LASIK. These lasers provide custom or conventional LASIK. Custom LASIK incorporates wavefront technology to provide a highly accurate measure of the irregularities in the corneal shape and create an individualized laser profile to correct each eye. The practice also offers the "ALL LASER LASIK" procedure from IntraLase. The surgeons choose the best combination of the excimer laser and "ALL LASER LASIK" to optimize the outcome for the individual patient's needs. In addition to laser vision correction, CK surgery is also offered for those patients who are farsighted.

Claus M. Fichte, MD, is the medical director of Fichte-Endl Eye Associates. Dr. Fichte earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. After graduation, he remained at the school to complete his ophthalmology residency training. Dr. Fichte has been a pioneer in the field of laser eye surgery and is regarded as one of the country's leading cataract and refractive surgeons. As a clinical investigator, he has been instrumental in ushering in next-generation techniques and technologies that have helped to advance the practice of vision correction.
Michael J. Endl, MD, is a magna cum laude graduate with numerous honors from the University of Buffalo, School of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Endl went on to specialize in ophthalmology at Louisiana State University. During the fourth year of his competitive residency program, he was elected chief resident, allowing him to study with two of the country’s leading experts in eye surgery. He is adept at corneal transplants, glaucoma surgery, and diabetic eye care treatments, in addition to various state-of-the-art techniques, including IOL implantation and laser vision correction. Like Dr. Fichte, Dr. Endl is a cataract surgery specialist, performing more than 600 cases annually.
Thomas R. Elmer Jr., MD, was a welcome addition to the Amherst and Niagara Falls offices of Fichte-Endl Eye Associates. Dr. Elmer earned his medical degree from SUNY-Buffalo, School of Medicine. After graduating, he participated in a select internship program at Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans. He later completed a competitive ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University, where he was elected chief resident. Dr. Elmer’s extensive training continued with a pediatric ophthalmic fellowship at SUNY-Buffalo Department of Ophthalmology. He devoted the next four years to an extended tour of mission eye surgery in Africa, performing a variety of complex eye surgeries on those in need. Dr. Elmer's expertise in pediatric eye care allows Fichte-Endl Eye Associates to expand its total eye care services.
